I am surprise by the lack of comment on the ID word 85 bit 10 problem... I expected someone to comment on the usage of this bit... Is it turned on and off based on the presence of an HPA on the drive? There are drives that do this and this implementation would be consistent with the definition of the bit in the ID data table. So is it common for drives to toggle this bit based on the state of the HPA? Is the description of the bit in the ID data table correct or is the text description of the bit (following the table) correct?
