(Dan: Please add this to the agenda for the August meeting, under the SCT
technical report project)

It appears that the description of the SCT Error Recovery Control command
is a little 'fuzzy' with regard to some time limit behaviour.

Please share your comments about these observations.
-------------------
1) For reads:

"If the Read Command Timer expires while the drive is performing
error recovery, the drive will
      stop processing the command....."

This implies that the device will begin to terminate WHEN the time
limit expires.

There is NO requirement that the device FINISH termination before the
time limit expires.
In fact, the device may take as long as it wants to actually complete
the
      termination and cleanup.

This further implies that it is NOT appropriate for a host to require
that
such cleanup be completed BEFORE the time limit.

The host's actual wait time is UNLIMITED.

2) but different expectations apply to writes:

"If the drive is unable to complete data reallocation before the
timer expires
then the device fails the command when the timer expires."

This implies that the device will begin to terminate BEFORE the time
limit expires.

There IS an 'expectation' that the device FINISH termination before
the time limit expires.

This further implies that it IS appropriate for a host to require
that
such cleanup be completed BEFORE the time limit.

The host's actual wait time is bounded.

Thank You !!!
