As you know I don't use ATA-7 and I tell people to avoid using it. One of the many reasons is found in the comnent I made to a T13 member a few weeks ago in a private email...
Another question (related to why ATA/ATAPI-7 is so useless) - Are you adding any comments (informative) that ID words for PIO and DMA timing modes are not used by native SATA? There are other ID words that should get the same treatment. Also that SET FEATURES to set PIO and DMA modes are not needed/used (or they are no-op) in native SATA? And what about nIEN not being useful in SATA? All these issues go to the heart of the problems with ATA/ATAPI-7 - making it so confusing that it is not worth using. (Would you like me to post this paragraph to the T13 list?)
