First of all, Mr. Hof (Im Hof?) is correct that the best way to end a track
with a squared-off end is to use a fill. The use of a pad is not
recommended because it will create soldermask openings and paste mask and
maybe other things as well, unless special rules are set, and I can't think
of a good reason to go to such trouble.

Gerber will cheerfully draw track with square apertures, but remember that
the aperture will not be rotated away from its definition, and let's say
that the definition has 0 rotation, so it will be 1.414 times as wide when
drawn diagonally as when drawn orthagonally. And you would have to use an
aperture table instead of RS-274X and manipulate it to change the round
aperture to a square one, and there would be other complications, like the
fact that DRC will not know what you are doing. Don't do it.

If there will be many squared ends, design the board, remembering that you
are going to square at least some of the track. Assuming that the squares
will all be the same size, then go back and place a square fill of the
right size, select and copy it, and then pop copies down wherever they are
needed.

Perhaps he wants to make an RF pattern, and the field solver he is using to
calculate it likes square patterns. Maybe there is also an RF reason why
the pattern needs to be square, perhaps because of the field intensity is
creates, if I understand that correctly. Maybe he wants to make spark gaps
(in which case I'd recommend making a spark gap part and putting it on the
schematic).
