Many CAD systems have viewers, including the Protel-owned Accel PCAD. But
Protel does not have a viewer. There is the demo, but you only get one
30-day period per system on which you install it. Actually, per hard drive....
For measuring things, using a free gerber viewer will suffice.
If the design does not depend on the new layers, there is a demo version
Protel 2.5 Advanced PCB available on the web which can be used to view
Protel files that have been exported to version 2.8. I have clients who
have used it for this purpose. In particular, they will be able to see net
names on pads or otherwise follow nets. The demo is full-function except
that it will not save (or plot?) files above a certain size, but it will
view them.
