Dude, microsoft is not evil not because it doesn't open source code. No. It's evil because of it's unfair business practices and FUD tactics. It uses marketing and sometimes marketing alone to get a software and then leverages that dependency to get their own standards and stifles the market. I don't think it's necessary for any company to let their company secret out in the public... I don't think doing so will matter so much except taking google down and the execs there aren't so dumb to give their secrets. Its well known how google crawls the web. It cannot be patented. All the variables that google uses are mostly well known (otherwise all these SEOs would've been out of job) EU will be afraid of any american company gaining dominance on the internet... I think the main thing for most google users is they can point their browsers elsewhere easily... whereas M$ users don't have that options and when the thing that we are talking about is OS, it gives any company immense power that can be abused.
