Yes and no. The term "window" generally signifies the the GUI part of a
desktop environment. While, the people who are familiar more with M$
might say it's not an open source inclined word, the etymology of the
word itself is rooted deep in programming history where you had the
early "Windowing" toolkits from IBM, Apple and such and then 3.1.. and
now to its current form of X windowing toolkit.

I think saying "Window" to a widget doesn't mean it's non-open source.
It's more a matter of choice I guess.
