Just FYI :-), in future could you please post the exact model of webcam and 
where you have currently reached in terms of making it to work? There is a free 
software developer in France who wrote (if my memory serves me right) nearly 
~150 drivers for taiwanese/chinese made webcams for Linux. You could possibly 
get one of the driver he wrote for your webcam (suitably if not perfectly). 
Google around and see.
Often times, it involves these -
1) Get hold of source or binary-only driver
2) Compile the source to a module
3) Insert the module


It is often times that it's hard to get 1) because the webcam is "outrightly" 
not supported in Linux. Other times, getting a similar chipset model can work. 
So, the mileage may vary and hence it's an art not some rocket science.
