hi all,

u all might be aware of the Linux LTSP based e-Libraries that Help Nepal
Network (HeNN) is deploying with technical assistance of IOE FOSS Community.
Having deployed two of them at Dang and Bhaktapur and soon on Dhulikhel and
Morang, HeNN is on the way to deploy elibraries in every districts of nepal
with the slogan 'one elibrary per district'.

but setting up elibraries in every district in nepal is not a minor task n
obviously the goal is out of reach with jus the effort of HeNN and IOE FOSS
Community alone. we need more than support and collaboration from others,
especially FOSS enthusiasts..

so HeNN and FOSS Nepal Community is trying to bring some packages that would
help to spread the LTSP technology and eventually create some enthusiasm
towards the LTSP projects. one immediate event we're going to do is 'LTSP
Training of Trainers'.

'LTSP Training of Trainers' is planned to be an event similar to FOSS
Essential Training we had last year, but we'll be focusing on LTSP and will
be targeted towards technical group. it'll be little informal too. yesterday
we'd a small meeting among HeNN and FOSS Nepal members about this. here are
some of the points we discussed on..

1. Date: As soon as possible, perhaps within a month after tihar is over
2. Duration: Perhaps one week (alternate days?)
3. Venue: yet to be decided (Brihaspati School, Naxal is the most probable)
4. Targeted group: College students, but anyone interested is welcome
5. Requirements: Basic Linux knowledge, lot of enthusiasm towards FOSS and
LTSP, also willing to work/volunteer on HeNN eLibrary project would be
wonderful
6. Focal Points during training: Networking Basics with focus on Linux, LTSP
Installation and Configuration, Troubleshootings, LTSP Hacks (eg. BootROMs)
7. Fee: Possibly free or nominal jus to cover cd n other material prices

plz do follow this thread if u have comments on the above plans or have some
other ideas. also do write if u r interested to get the training or wanna
volunteer as a trainer. views or questions regarding LTSP (including HeNN's
eLibrary Project) r also most welcome. we're trying to have as many ideas as
possible and a total community involvement for organizing the event.. lets
make it FOSSible..

regards,
jwalanta shrestha,
FOSSian + HeNN eLibrary Project Volunteer.
