good points coming out. Thanks Bipin...and others.

About opportunities, we have been talking for very very long time.

I agree with you Bipin. I too want to see results and outputs. But Its not
like flipping a coin from head to tail or otherwise. Results come only after
some span of time of implementation.

We have some markable outputs in this stage as well. Initially to say
Ministry of General Administration have been using Nepalinux on some
computers. Planning to move further. Brihaspati School has Linux Lab
installed. Brihaspati along with FOSS Nepal Community have successfully
completed first phase of FOSS Training for Other Secondary School teachers.
Planning further for advanced trainings and making Vendor Independent
Curriculum to propose.

And yes why only talk on linux or windows, people are using OSS for windows
all around(plz not all people).

Why one use firefox or 7zip or apache or Quake(both commercial and OSS
available)? Its performance, functionality, flexibility counts for people
to use it. Is it not output. Though many lacks awareness that what they use
are FOSS.

OK OK. let me come to point.
*
We are not here to decide to use OSS or not. Its out of topic and never
ending Discussion to go......At this point we believe it should be
implemented. Question is how? So i think we focus on pointing out challenges
and opportunities of OSS deployment.
*
Let me point one important Fossibility i see:

Many people are unaware of the fact that H/w and Software are two different
things. They, at the time of purchasing computer, get all softwares
installed along with its backup in the machine from H/w vendors. And yes all
are proprietary that too pirated. I think we need to aware h/w vendors by
doing some campaign or training on installing OSS and providing them, with
OSS materials/backup along with guides for their customers to install and
use OSS.
In campaign, we who know some such vendors can have some time at their shop
and teach them how to install Linux or say other W32 OSS even if its
windows. Aware them of its requirement and possible threat of License
infringement while installing pirated s/w.

Let me give my answer to its output:
1. From next time all people buying computer from those vendors get OSS
softwares to their computers. If possible with manual.
2. The vendor will give their customer the alternatives for installing
Windows or linux to that machine.
3. If added to it...... They can DualBoot the new machine to 2 OS and ask
the customer to give a try to FOSS.

What is the result?
In example:
Consider a person from Sindhupalchowk comes to one vendor to buy a machine.
He heard about windows and want the machine to be preinstalled by windows.
Now later he takes that machine home. After some days, he required text
editor or processor. What he finds in his backup is OpenOffice. He uses it,
he explores it, uses it then on.

Its one FOSSibility for the promotion and deployment of OSS.

my turn is over.
