yes adding local server is not enough until local bandwidth between local ISP is capped.
then how about creating a software library? I think we all can contribute the recent version of opensource software to the repository of this project. Anyone who want that software/distros can copy it from there. The only need is the infrastructure and mechanism; to store, access and distribute them. Can FOSS Research and Training Center (FRTC) at BVS used for this purpose? and as Bibek mention in his previous post "About FOSS Research and Training Center" maintainer for the lab appointed and authoring body/ committee to monitor the activities within the FRTC should be immediately formed. ranendra On Mar 19, 4:53 pm, SauRjk <[email protected]> wrote: > well jwalanta dai is right... wats the point of having a server in > nepal... ... wlink has capped its bandwidth... and .. adsl is also > limited to the bandwidth amount that the user subscribe.. unless wlink > remove the bandwidth limitivity and also adsl increase local > bandwidth... there is no use of a nepal server... .. > > On Mar 18, 8:38 pm, Abhishek Singh <[email protected]> wrote: > > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > > Hash: SHA1 > > > Jwalanta Shrestha wrote: > > > yes we can, but hosting in nepal is outrageously expensive. who's gonna > > > pay??http://www.worldlink.com.np/web/hosting/ > > > > plus, currently wlink has capped its bandwidth for cable users (which i > > > guess r in large number than others). adsl is also limited to 16/32KBps. > > > what's the point of having a server nepal?? > > > > ~jwalanta > > > > On Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 2:06 PM, Enfeeyano <[email protected]> wrote: > > > >> hey ppl i dunno know if this topic is talked before!! > > >> bt can't we make servers in Nepal for downloading distros n apps!! > > > >> for instance few years ago downloading videos from cybersansar used be > > >> in couple of seconds..like that can't we locate servers in Nepal!! > > > Dear Rajiv, > > Jwalanta is right at pointing the outrageous cost of hosting. > > Though some ISPs are getting on to host.
