you only read the first line in my email didn't you. Have you read lines
where i have said you can expand mapserver with other langauges ..... and
with mapscript. I have provided links on how to do that.

Maybe mapserver is not a complete gis software but you can make it by using
mapscript and expanding it with "R". And I have already done it. I have used
R for nearest neighbourhood analysis, kernel density mapping and contour
maps during kalaazar study at panchkanya vdc, near dharan.

Consider reading more on "R" and PostGIS.

Maybe people at mapserver have written what you have stated coz R, PostGIS
and mapscript are not their software, which is widely used to expand
mapserver for the greater good.

But as I have already said, don't go for mapserver until you have lot's of
study time. It might be a vertical climb.
