i used ultraiso in a windows system to make a bootable gparted drive.
>

please check this for more info on creating a bootable gparted disk.
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php

and this for how to use gparted.
http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/gparted.html

OR follow these instructions step by step:

   1. Boot live
   2. startup terminal
   3. type sudo su (to become root)
   4. type "fdisk -l" without quotes
   5. you will see something like /dev/sda1, /dev/sda2, /dev/sdb1 etc.
   6. remember those names.
   7. run this command each time for /dev/sda# "mkfs.ntfs /dev/sda#" put
the respective number in place of #.

     8. be careful to put the correct device names. generally sda# are
intenal/primary disks which are followed by sdb#, sdc# as external drives.
but double check it.

Hope it helps.

And, dont get frustruated. Most of us have gone through this at beginning of
our linux journey. :D
