Shakthi ,

This is a charity event. It is run by a not-for-profit organization, the Scrum
Alliance. I am not doing this for any financial benefit — I do this for the joy
of doing the right thing. So does the Scrum Alliance.

We are doing this to provide a service to Nepal. The monetary charges are put
in place only to ensure that the people are committed — otherwise we risk
hundreds of casual signups by people who may be marginally interested.

The money will be donated to a local charity or other cause, yet to be
identified, at the discretion of the local organizers there. For example, when
we did this in Serbia the money was donated to renovate priceless artworks at a
local church.

Do you have an alternative suggestion for solving this problem?

I would not come all the way from Denmark to Nepal to offer a class for 25
people at 100 euro apiece, as a commercial venture.

Do you need a copy of the Scrum Alliance not-for-profit charter or anything
else to validate that I can post messages here? You can also direct any
questions you might have to Carol McEwan, managing director of the Scrum
Alliance, who is copied on this mail.
