Ya its quite hard to set the arch might take you almost the week or 2. Literally you would require 2 pc! damn what a pain you guess!
*But i like to to say are you sure!* :D Its possible to install form existing Linux! https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Install_from_Existing_Linux Why not make little bit much easier! :D ________________________________________________ Arch in 10 Step [Simplified Version] ! Disclaimer: 1. Arch (aka killer distro) is not for बच्चाहरु! but after reading this stuff you would try it any ways! :D 2. Pls Double check the commands it may vary according to your host distribution. 3. Hate to say or so! Below method has not been tested! Any ways i manged to do it some how! ________________________________________________ Here it goes! This Arch is bit different that other distribution. Unlike the other distro arch doesn't have the version releases! Arch follow the rolling release! Runs on the bleeding edge stuff! which Debian never will (Debian is super-stable coz i guess Ian didn't wanted his girlfriend to get angry if it crashed!). [1] Hate to say to we poor लोड सेडिग पिडिए fossian! Internet connection is the must. Now download archlinux core iso as per your architecture. [2] Mean while make a free space around 20 GB more than enough to try out all types of crazy stuffs. [3] Arch wiki is quite awesome if you read it but! *will you read*? anyway here the link https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide There any endless ways to do it! if you know your black screen with the blinky cursor! [4] Just make any kinda bookable (usb, cd, dvd) anything! if you dunno गुगल दाईलाई सोघ्नुस्। [5] Now start installation! I assume you know you system and partition well and will not end up clean up all :D Ya Both Linux can share the common swap! You can actually Skip installing boot-loader for arch! Any ways if you do too it just 2 to 3 more steps. [6] Now you might wanna update your boot loader list. Better not switch to GRUB2 to it got some advantages! which i can't say! So Updating GRUB2 looks like this. # update-grub Generating grub.cfg ... Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-31-generic Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-31-generic Found memtest86+ image: /boot/memtest86+.bin Found Arch on /dev/sda3 done [7] You might have to get a stuff called "xorriso" to build the ISO since we got to make GRUB2 boot iso. I like debian so # apt-get install xorriso # grub-mkrescue --output=GRUB2.iso /boot/grub [8] This step is Optional Its not mandatory but *I guess you dunno wanna cry over spilled milk!* Trust me on this you never want to do this by mistake! Extract you ISO remove all stuff related to host system from "menu.lst" and "grub.cfg" and rebuilt it again. [9] You might wanna get a DE for this. (I guess every got one. just to making sure kiddos Try hard to figure out What's DE and learn more) Now Get yourself a thing called Virtualbox-OSE and jump to terminal to make fake virtual disk which is actually a raw partition. in my case i did install arch on sda3. $ VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename /media/Dump/sda3arch.vdi -rawdisk /dev/sda -partition 3 [10] Open Virtualbox thingi. Create new VM. Add your pseudo virtual disk! and first boot sequence to GRUB2.iso. it will result you to grub console now load your grub config file by doing. > configfile /grub.cfg Enjoy Hacking! :D -- FOSS Nepal mailing list: [email protected] http://groups.google.com/group/foss-nepal To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] Mailing List Guidelines: http://wiki.fossnepal.org/index.php?title=Mailing_List_Guidelines Community website: http://www.fossnepal.org/
