Fossil is GPL, meaning that we can freely accept code contributions
from the public. However, some corporate users have concerns with the
GPL. Specifically, there are concerns that anonymous contributors
might introduced code into Fossil that they have themselves lifted
from another source, and which they do not have the right to contribute.

To ameliorate this concern, we are asking all contributors to Fossil
to sign the Copyright Assignment form found at

     http://www.fossil-scm.org/fossil/artifact/c9aacab2be

If you have contributed code to Fossil and are willing to print and
sign a copy of that form (after inserting your personal information in
place of the blue text) and sending a copy to me by post at the
address shown, I will return to you a small honorarium.

Please note that this copyright assignment is purely optional.
However, there will eventually appear a branch in Fossil that contains
only code for which copyright has been assigned to Hwaci, and
contributions for which we do not have a copyright assignment on file
will be excluded from that branch.

I am sorry to have to request these copyright assignments, but such is
the state of copyright law. Regardless of whether or not you have
contributed or whether or not you will be sending in a copyright
assignment, please complain to your elected officials.
