Because that is how I interpreted the documentation. Look: fossil clone http://www.fossil-scm.org/ myclone.fossil Do you see a "project.cgi" anywhere in there? In addition, the space between the forward slash and "myclone.fossil" is hardly visible, so on a quick glance it looks like you are giving the path to a file. Yes, if I had studied that line very slowly I might have realized that that's not what you are doing, but the documentation should be clearer here.
