Windows has the Event Viewer, which can be accessed by invoking 
`eventvwr.msc` in either a cmd.exe window or the Run dialog. Modern 
versions of Windows allow you to filter the contents in a similar 
fashion. Admittedly, these tools don't even come remotely close to the 
versatility of grep, sed, and awk on the UNIX side of things, but with 
PowerShell, things do become a lot less painful.

(As an aside, please spare us from the anti-Windows sentiment or blatant 
UNIX-like superiority (e.g., "('We' = Windows users, not me)"). These 
remarks are completely unnecessary; we're all in this together. Agreed?)
