It's not just the ability to do it, sometimes it is natural. For example, I am 
working on new feature ABC and in the process I discover a new bug. I fix that 
bug, but it's totally unrelated to the new feature. I like to commit change XYZ 
as it's own commit and as a bug fix, not as part of the "New ABC Feature" 
commit.
