I know it is not there. This is exactly the reason for me to write this
email.

My proposal would of course require some kind of rollback or undo for the
commit that would be automatically executed when detecting the possible
fork and after having canceled the synchronization.

If someone needs more details:

- check that local repository would not fork
- write somewhere the tip name
- commit
- sync with a precondition: if tip of the remote repository is not the same
than tip of the local repository, abort synchronization. In this latter
case, rollback or undo the commit
