No, that doesn't help. I wonder whether this ever worked as expected, as
prompting for saving the password was implemented in 1.26:

I tried this version too, and it works exactly the same.
My conclusion is that this isn't a regression. It never worked as I
(intuitively) would expect it to work, and it appears I'm not the only one ;-)
