Hello, a comment not on Fossil, but on the www.fossil-scm.org page contents itself - I've wanted to post something about this on here for a long time, but didn't. A quick google-search for posts about this on this list did't give quick results, so...
Do people really use the 'permuted index' on the 'Documentation' page? (Is there a quick link to the same list, only non-permuted?) The list shown at time of writing has 166 items; 'unpermuting' them yields 52 items. What I normally do for projects new to me, is visit the website, see if it looks 'ok' (e.g. not like an abandoned sourceforge page), and then look at the documentation, to see if it's worth investing time into. When presented with a list of more than, say, 30 items, I'll either give it a quick look-over, or (when searching for something specific) use the search-function of the browser. Long ago when I glanced over the 'permuted index' on the Fossil page, I found myself reading essentially the same title more than once before I realised I already saw that one. The above is obviously meant as constructive criticism; its web-page is the first thing people see when they come into contact with a new project.
