I am struggling to find a way to track changes in specific directories under Unix root directory hierarchy. My r/w access is limited to some subdirectories, as illustrated below.
I have r/w access in
/home/user/and/below
/user/anywhere/below
an read only access in
/some/directory/with/read/only/acces
/other/directory/with/read/only/acces

I am not allowed to open fossil repo in root '/' directory.

On widows machine, under my administration, I can open repository in root directory of a drive and add any tracked file relatively to this root. (I use this approach for several years now, with great success)

Would anyone suggest possible workaround for Unix with no way to open repository placed in root of filesystem?

Thanks,
Peter
