The only reason why I said that the separate line was cleaner was because it made it easier to find the commit hash. When it is all on one line, I actually prefer the commit hash to be the very first piece of text on the line. This makes everything justified nicely and it's easy to predict where I should place my mouse if I want to copy/paste or click on the hash. If it's in some random place on the line because the ``details'' have been moved to the end of a variable length comment, then I would rather have the ``details'' on a line by itself which preserves the ability to navigate commit hashes easily in the timeline.
