+1. I must admit I have been a bit surprised/shocked/irritated by the tone of the comments from some of those involved with the usability initiative. I always thought that Wikimedia valued community decision-making, but now I'm being told that my "feedback" is greatly appreciated and will be taken into consideration. That kind of attitude is what I was referring to earlier in this thread when I wondered to myself if Wikipedia had "jumped the shark"[1]. I am convinced that the unique organizational structure of our organization, in which the community has historically been given a very high level of authority in the decision-making process, is one of the key elements of our success. Are we going to let that go over the issue of UI usability? Have we entered a new chapter in our history as a community in which we, the people who have helped build this project, no longer get to help make the important decisions by contributing our ideas and venting our frustrations? Let me be the first to say that I am extraordinarily saddened at this thought.
