My compiled version of owfs for the fox-board works perfect with an USB-adapter DS9490.
I havent tried any serial adapter, but it should be possible to connect that to /dev/ttyS2 on connector J6. It looks like it is pin 7 (TXD2) and 8 (RXD2), but Im not sure it you have to write to some special registers first to enable those pins.
