I had something similar, but different happen to me. My solution may help,
but it may not.
I was actively editing the CP through the ICC when the CP rebooted. I was
faced with Initializing/Rebooting/Reloading, but I tried something else
first. (I knew that the initialization option would work, but I didn't want
to do it if I didn't absolutely have to.) I was sure that what I had in the
ICC was what I wanted. (This parallels with you using an old SaveAll.) I
copied what I wanted to be there to a workfile. I then deleted the compound
via the ICC. I then reloaded the compound from the workfile.
This is not the most elegant solution, but neither is initializing. I had
the advantage of only having one corrupt compound. The equipment was down
for an upgrade, that is why I was modifying it. If it works, the advantage
of this method is that you can take equipment off-line by compound rather
than taking the equipment for the entire CP down for a CP initialization.
You mentioned having an off-line CP. You could put the old SaveAll into the
off-line CP and bring the compounds over either via network or "sneaker
net".
By the way, I now do major modifications in a workfile (like we're supposed
to do).
