Hello Joe, We use exceed on W95. Only the person
logged on during the installation of exceed on a PC can access exceed, subsequent
users who log on are not "registered" for exceed. So we wrote a registry key
script that the user runs (on the PC, just once after the exceed installation) which
sets up the registry.
We use the RLOGIN (TCP/IP) method because we had
similar to yourself way back and that seemed to sort it out.
Is your version of exceed compliant with W2000 ? I
had heard from our IT folks that there were some compatability issues, dont know the
details.

Remote Displays using Exceed

We have been using exceed for years to open remote
display managers using
the telnet start method without much for problems. The IT people have been
upgrading the PC's in the plant with new PC's that are running Windows2000
and have been having problems opening a DM after installing exceed. Several
have worked by installing exceed while logged in as Power User, while some
didn't work that way either. The error they get is a "connection
closed(3)"
when trying to open a DM. They are able to open a x-window into another
application (a unit optimization program) running on a non Foxboro sun box
without a problem. The new installs are using the same xstart and xconfig
setups as the older installs are using. Does anyone have any ideas on what
may be the conflict here?

Thank You,
