The short answer is yes it can be and is done. The longer more difficult answer
will be how.

In short, we do this by capturing the alarm history file on a periodic basis,
searching for contents of the alarms for certain text (like C:B.HAIND). If a
message shows up that we are monitoring for, we use a script to format a
compatible text file (maybe in SMTP format) that contains TO:, FROM:, SUBJECT,
and the alarm message. The text file is FTP'd to a location on our network
where it is picked up by our email system.

I believe the Cassandra Project site contains some programs and scripts to
capture the alarm history file. You will have to check with you network people
to answer the questions concerning the email format requirements and how to the
get the messages into your email system.

Ladies & Gentlemen,
Is there a way to send certain process alarms messages as e-mail messages?
It would be nice to use a new e-mail notification pop up when some important
alarm arrrives.
Thanks
