I have had a lot of problems with this (3/4 times I've done the install). It
had to do with permissions and the owner of files. I had to create a new
account called flex owner or something like that.
I worked it through (many hours!) with Sun. They were surprised we are still
at 2.5.1.
I did put a CAR in on this too - ask Craig Oullette (TAC).
Perhaps it is the same problem. I can't totally remember what I had to do so
you might call Sun, but I know there is a procedure from Foxboro for
installation of this license on the Foxboro website. Maybe it is different
from the manual I used from Sun.
ALso I wouldn't bother downloading a million patches that Sun will ask you
to do either.
Sincerely,
Diane B. Harris

This package is working OK for us on an AW51B. I don't remember any
specific issues when we followed the quick start guide, maybe there is a
problem with the uninstall.
The file that the system is complaining about is a symbolic link on our
system to /opt/SUNWste/license_tools/sunwlicd
If sun tech support can't help I doubt I can provide any answers, but If you
have any questions on files on our working system I'll try to answer.

Subject: Anyone using Sun Workshop 5.0 C Compiler???
Regarding: Sun Workshop 5.0 C Compiler Licenses Manager.
We have been trying to get the License Manager installed on an AW51B w/
256Mb memory and 9.1Gb drive space.
(no hardware or drive space issues here!)
The install always starts with first removing the old version(s) of the
complier and license manager using a script sent
directly from Sun (uninstall_1.6.5) which should remove everything.
I have moved all the files from /etc/opt/licenses to a personal directory
over in /opt for the time being...
Following the de(in)structions from the Sun Workshop 5.0 "Quick Install
maunal (starting on page 14)
and running ./workshop_install and selecting ONLY the license manager
(since the license manager and the compiler together doesn't work either),
the install seems to proceed normally until the following error occurs.
Invoking Installer
ERROR occured attempting to change the group of the file
/etc/opt/licenses/sunlicd to . Terminating execution.
pkgadd: ERROR: postinstall script did not complete successfully.
Installation of <SUNlicsw> failed.
This has only been tried in 'multi-user' mode.
I don't think single user would work, since /opt is not mounted.
Spending 4 hours on the phone with Sun Tech support for this product
produced nothing!
I suspect that their install script is hosed up, but they never offered
another version.
If ANYONE out there is using this package, PLEASE, let me know if you had
this problem on the install or not.
If you DID have this problem, I would GREATLY appreciate any hints you
can
offer!
Thanks!
Steve
