If Gary can't see those folds in the curtains, then he doesn't have very
good resolution on his computer or a good program with which to see them
otherwise. I can see them CLEARLY when I take it into Photoshop.

hallo,

Thank you, I had trown it away. But I looked it up again now that my picture
has been formaly rejected. I should have looked it up before because you can
see clearly the curtainfolds behind the boy. Maybe I should try to send in
this version.
I think I will.

Jacklyn,

To play “devil’s advocate,” Do you have the picture before it was cropped
up-close? The first 2 photos you’re showing are 2 different ones – The
questioned photo, and then a different pose.

Cheers,

Subject: [fpba-assn] part 2: how to make sure your photo does not look
edited?

Hello you all,

First of all I want to say I'm sorry to Gary. It was not my intention to
attack him in any way. I just said his name because its a competition we al
know and I just wanted to know if anybody else is refused on a regulair base
because of editing they did not do. (Got a lot of mails anserwing that
question, so I'm far from beeing the only one, that allready makes me feel a
lot better;0). But you guys are right, I should have kept that in between,
had nothing to do with my real question: I wanted to know how to solve the
problem. I wrote it in frustration, I was so happy with the beautifull
pictures, it was a project that I wanted to do for a long time, I did the
whole paint in only 4 hours and turned out great. And the photos turned out
fab too. My best work ever and then they get refused!!!
A lot of people now told me that it does looks edited and there is my
problem because its not. I never edit my photo if I send them into a
competition. I think thats fooling yourself. And this photo I did not need
to edit for my website either, because it was perfect the way it was.

I had to use a lesser flash to keep the wolf from turning all white, the
backdrop became to uniform and looks edited

Just one person gave me a tip in how to avoid these circomstances and thats
to make sure you light the background. The painting is the most important
thing offcourse, it has to pop up the way I drawn it. Sometimes with a very
light drawing I use daylightlamps on the ouside, and it does show the
background more. I never took any notice, because I use the lamps only to be
able to photograph the colors just the way they are. So now I know should
use them every time to make sure you can see the background is a backdrop.

It was not my attention to make it personal. I wanted to adres a problem
which I think is going to be there all the time.
My husband now has figured out how to use the camera in such a way that the
colors pop out the way I have drawn them, my pictures are perfect now and do
not need any editing. And I like the uniform looking background. But now I
have a new problem: it looks edided, very frustrating.

Now I should make two kinds of pictures: The ones in which you can see the
background in details for competition and the one with a uniform background,
which I like to have on my website.

So Gary, I like you, we have met in Orlando and went to diner with 6 of us.
Its not about you, and I'm sorry it came out that way. You are right to
refuse edited pictures. I just got frustrated, thats all.

I have attached some more pictures of the paint, in which you can clearly
see my hand! And yes, for on my website I would make that hand black. But I
have enough pictures without the hand, so I do not need to.

I guess you can't see if its edited all the time, those pictures prove that!
But how do you solve the problem without having to make a lesser
picture?????

I got one anserw, which I think makes a lesser picture because I like the
background to be uniform.

Anybody?
