Yelena is painting my head AND wearing that beautiful T-shirt that Mayte has created! I have a beautiful story, as well, to share. Derrick was asked by a company if he could volunteer 2 hours at a raising money for breast cancer event, and he indicated that it wasn't possible as he was busy that day, but that he could send me, another face painter to do it. They really wanted a face painter there and said the best they could pay was $150, because of the nature of the event. It turns out that Derrick told them and oh, by the way, my friend also has breast cancer. They doubled the amount to $300! Ain't that just amazing??? Derrick is not taking a penny of it - and I will be PROUD to be a Faces By Derrick Business Card-Carrying face painter! All along, this fundraising has been incredible for me - first, to be capable of asking for help, and then some family members who I have not been in touch with for years, came out of the woodwork briefly, gave their donations, and I haven't heard a peep from them again. The face painting world has been utterly remarkable, and the most CREATIVE, of course, in what they have been able to come with in terms of ideas - fundraising on their own time, putting out energy, on my behalf and raising funds. Even going so far as creating a T-shirt with a beautiful Glitter Bug in the middle of a huge printed pink ribbon on a black background!!! The face painters have been THE MOST spontaneous with me and very loving and caring. There have been face painters donating $10 to $500 ... and ALL have contributed to my treatment, from which I have returned today, my 13th treatment!!! Many of these face painters and entertainers I DON'T EVEN KNOW!!!! There are close friends with whom I have meditated with over the past 28 years in NYC and in India - some of them who are financially well off have helped! So I wish to take the time to thank you all again.
