OMG, what a WONDERFUL convention!!!! Thank you, Cynthia!!!!! Even though I was the competition director and didn't get to a whole lot of classes, the ones I went to were SUPER SUPER SUPER. Conventions are like old home week where you see friends in the face painting world that you only get to see once or twice a year....then you hug and play catch up on what's been going on.....and you learn and learn and learn and learn. And you make NEW friends. OMG! How much fun can you have while learning!!!!! I want to publically thank Lisa Smiley's mom for being there the ENTIRE day to help me run errands when I had to sit the door for the 6 hour body painting competition. She was so helpful!!!! Thank you, Mom, from the bottom of my heart. If you EVER get to see Lucy Broulliard (I hope I spelled that right), DO SO!!!! Lucy is one heck of a face painter!!!! She's also a super roomie as well. And she won the body painting competition. Lucy is down to earth and very approachable.
When Lucy does a body painting there is always a story behind it. She puts a LOT of thought into what she does, then does the detail appropriately as well. As an example, part of her body painting for the competition entailed a princess and a witch. The witch was in the mirror and the princess on the other side. Their fingertips met in the mirror. It was AWESOME. And the prince on the horse on the lady's back was even MORE AWESOME. Lucy, send the group some pictures!!! (I'm sure she has better pics than mine.) And the other classes were great as well. And they had a drawing for a FREE year's worth of insurance. Also a FREE subscription to Cynthia's magazine. Paul Belanger donated a free $99 waist pack microphone and amplifier. And I'm sure there were other freebies that were given when I couldn't attend because I was doing other competition stuff. And Jenny Henry did a bang up job at the "Bright Ideas" where she ended up handing out a lot of the bright ideas items to people in the class! And the Wolfe Brother's paints were 50% off!!!!! HOLY MOLY, talk about spend some money there! The whole time was a very SHARING time and REALLY well worth going! Even I learned a few things (after almost 20 years of face painting!) If you ever get the opportunity, go to one of these events and further your education. It will make you a better person!
