I'll use hot water when I can, but because I'm cleaning sponges on-
site at the faire, I have to resort to a mild soap to loosen up the
makeup faster (hot running water is not easily obtainable there). I'll
use Pink soap or sometimes a dishwashing soap in a pinch.

I also found that putting the sponges in the washing machine made mine
degrade a lot faster, so I stopped doing that.
