Paint spatter???? That's just an experienced kit. I'd question the overall clean kit. When that kit is first opened and set up to use what does it look like? It should look like an experienced well maintained clean kit. Every brush and sponge should be sparkling clean....not just rinsed out. every cake of makeup should be fresh and look like it's just been washed, and well it should have been. Jodi Carr showed me her way of cleaning cakes and I almost died when I saw it, but it's the easiest most efficient way I have seen anywhere with the least waste. Simply take the cake and rinse it under running water, pat it upside down on clean paper towel, and then leave it to dry upside down. Brushes and sponges should be washed individually...any paint remaining in the brush or sponge only shows that it's still not clean.
Now that I've been on my soap box....let me just say I'm terrible at keeping my set up looking neat and clean. I'm getting better with using a little trash bucket, and keeping my sponges in my acme sponge holder, but I still tend to be pretty messy. This stuff with Sixth Star, really wakes me up to see that people really do notice not only our work but our cleanliness as well. And I want to add that Carol is OCD about her kit....and she will tell you in a heartbeat that it needs to be cleaned....and help you do it. I speak from experience and I thank Carol for helping me clean up my act! I'm off to reclean my kit now, Carol will be checking kits at her jam I'm sure, and I want to pass.
