It seems to me that segfault is a aes1610 driver issue.
As for aes2501 when I try to move finger too slow I get:

aes2501:warning [capture] swiping finger too slow?

Btw, please, post bug at http://www.reactivated.net/fprint/bugs/

Can someone with aes1610 check if this issue present?
