It's not that we don't plan to work on it, it's just that we are 
currently at a dead end. See

There are 3 options:
1. Obtain technical documentation from authentec and write a driver from
    that info. (does not require windows, but is unlikely to happen)
2. Perform chinese-wall reverse engineering on an authentec driver.
    Does not require windows for the person who writes the resulting
    fprint driver. But this is extremely time consuming and requires 2
    people.
3. Figure it out through bus traffic analysis and experimentation (this
    is how all of the fprint drivers have been created). This requires
    you to run the device under a configuration where it works, so
    windows is probably your only option.
