It does not work as root either. I tried this since I could not get the
fingerprint enrolment button to appear in gnome-about-me:

[jsikor...@snowball ~]$ rpm -V fprintd
[jsikor...@snowball ~]$ su
Password:
[r...@snowball jsikorski]# /usr/libexec/fprintd -t
Launching FprintObject

** ERROR **: Got result code 2 from requesting name
aborting...
Aborted
[r...@snowball jsikorski]#
