This parcel adjacent to Morency street has been featured in the newspaper and has been the subject of a number of meetings. The land has been examined and described by the Framingham Conservation Commission as a beautiful property, and they support its preservation. Extensive volunteer efforts have already been cleaning up the property and a large network of volunteers from both Framingham and Natick has agreed to improve and maintain it into the future. Your support of the following electronic petition to the Selectmen to preserve the Morency Street parcel is urgent and vital to keep this land as open space. You can show your support by sending a direct reply to this email (the reply will automatically come to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]). Respond only if you are in favor of the petition and type your name and Precinct number; your name will be recorded as such and the show of support will be presented to the Selectmen at the Thursday, August 8th meeting. Petition We residents of Framingham wish to show our support for the preservation of the Morency Street parcel for the benefit of all citizens of the Town of Framingham. This land is adjacent to one of the most densely populated sections of our town. This is the only open space in that section. The people living in the area of Morency Street and further away use this property extensively for passive recreation. It is important to them and their quality of life. The parcel is only 27 acres, but is surrounded by housing developments. Reducing its size by additional development will severely detract from its natural qualities that make it such a haven for the many residents who use it. We support the preservation of this parcel. We want the Selectmen to support efforts at preservation before pursuing the development option. For example, we would like the Selectmen to sign off on the application for State funding due Sept. 6, that would provide funding for maintenance of the property as open space. We feel that the value of the open space to the town is far greater than the money the town would receive from the sale of the land. However, with contributions sought from Natick, from the State, from SVT and other conservation organizations, and from citizen volunteers, we can save the land and still help the town budget. Preserving open space is important to the character of our town and the quality of life of its citizens. It is also important to support other precincts in their attempts to maintain or improve the quality of their part of town. It helps all of Framingham be a better place. Please support this effort. _______________________________________________________________ If you agree with this petition, please send a reply email as follows (you can copy and paste it into your reply if you wish): I, __(your name)_____________________, from Precinct __(your precinct)_____________, add my name and support to this Petition.
