"HIGH STAKES TESTING" AND MCAS TO BE DEBATED AT PUBLIC FORUM The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the Human Relations Commission of the Town of Framingham will co-sponsor a public hearing on the "High Stakes Testing" component of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) and the issues of the high school graduation requirement. The Forum will take place on Thursday, September 12, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM in the Public Hearing Room, Lower Nevins Hall, Memorial Building, 150 Concord Street, Framingham. State Senator David Magnani, State Representatives Deborah Blumer and Karen Spilka, and other local experts on education will share their thoughts on the present state of MCAS. A board of five panelists, including Mary McCloy-Dono of Community Connection, Ron Butler of Concerned Parents of Color, and Anita Rush of the NAACP will then comment round-robin on a series of defined topics with participation from the audience on each topic.
