TOWN MODERATOR/TOWN MEETING:
A TELEVISION INTERVIEW WITH GERRY DESILETS
Gerard Desilets, Moderator of Framingham's Town Meeting, is the guest of
the Human Relation's Commission on its regular program, "The People's
Choices", during the month of April. The program will be aired on
Tuesdays at 7 PM and Wednesdays at 8 AM on Channels 9 and 16 from March 25
- 26 to April 22 - 23, 2003
Gerry Desilets, now retiring after seven years of service as Town
Moderator, answers questions posed by Edwina Weston-Dyer, Chair of the
Human Relations Commission, and Ralph Woodward, the host of "The
People's Choices". A wide-ranging discussion of the duties and powers
of the Town Moderator is the focus. Issues raised by the problems
surrounding an elected representative Town Meeting form of government in
achieving democratic process are also studied. Mr. Desiletsb interview
is intended to inform the electorate preparing for election of a new Town
Moderator on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 and for Town Meeting which will
commence on Tuesday, April 22, 2003.
"The People's Choices" appears every Tuesday at 7 PM and every Wednesday
at * AM on Government Access Channels (9 & 16). Sponsored by the
Framingham Human Relations Commission, the program examines various
aspects of town government and the activities of town officials.
Subjects of inquiry are relevant to the broad interests of the Commission
in monitoring issues of community and human relations in the town of
Framingham.
