Yes, I've tried that. It works, but the next time I generate files, the setting
goes back.

Joe,
Have you tried to set these properties _in the book window_?
- select all the files you want to set up
- in Fromat > Page Layout > Pagination set 'make page count even'
=> The properties will be propageted to the individual files.
