Debbi, John, Sara, Grant, et. al. Thanks for the info - in a nutshell:
I don't recall this discussion, but Ctrl-0 is the shortcut to insert variables, which may be why "0" sticks in your mind. It highlights the status bar, and you can scroll through until the variable you wish to use is highlighted, then press enter. This is the same as using F8 and F9 for Character and Paragraph tags, respectively, or Ctrl-4, 5, & 6 for conditional text. You could also specify in the Spelling Checker to ignore a period without a space after it (in Options) -- but that of course isn't a good answer because it wouldn't flag instances where you've accidentally left out the space. ************************************************************************************************************* It is a "numerical zero". When you press it, the first variable in your list is displayed in a line just above the lower status bar, on the left side. You can use the up and down scroll button to scroll through the list, or enter the first character of the variable to go directly to it. Pressing Enter then applies the variable. You can also use CTRL-8 and CTRL-9 to display apply character and paragraph formats, too. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************ I've used a NoSpellCheck character tag. I think that a non-breaking space before the period also prevents the spelling checker from flagging the period every time. **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Placing a non-breaking space [Ctrl+Space] before the period works. Also, linking back to our earlier discussion, I see that nobody (including me....) noted the MSWindows-specific shortcut for shrinking an anchored frame and making it inline: [Applications Key (looks like a pointer selecing a menu item)+F12] (Tip of the hat to Shlomo for his Function key chart -- a "must have" for any FM user.)
