Alison, One common way of setting this up in Frame is to create a (usually) one row, two cell table. One cell, often with a hanging indent so that it's visible in the margin, contains a symbol or graphic for Notes/Cautions/Warnings. The other cell, usually set so that it runs in margin with the body text, contains whatever unique information you need to present.
The Icon cell usually contains a special paragraph tag (WarningIcon, etc.) that calls the standard graphic from a storage area on a Reference Page. The Text cell contains a second paragraph tag (WarningText) that may generate a bold lead-in or other typographic device that's controlled by the paragraph tag's autonumbering setting. For instance, you can set it to automatically generate the word Note, Caution, or Warning in a contrasting font from what you'd type to explain it.
