Yves' suggestion is more useful to my needs that Wim's, since it can be done with a quick keypress rather than having to touch that obscene rodent thingie, although both will take you to the page where the cursor currently resides... if it is in text.
I'm not really referring to moving from somewhere else in the document to the page where the cursor is though. It's more of an issue of being able to spot a thin sliver of a black cursor in black text, that is blinking very slowly, within a huge amount of screen real estate. The issue I have with both of the above solutions is that they require an action on my part. I want to be able to configure the color, size, and blink rate of the cursor, so I can tell at a glance where it is, not fumble around to find where it is or have to put the cursor somewhere just to know where it is. Friends, the pont is: can I instantly spot the cursor location on a large screen to assure that my paste operation hits the right target? visual feedback is the basic requirement in a user interface (and not the design satisying only black-clothed people). Nowadays so much more mousing is required than in the good old FM < 9 days, because many Windows features (e.g. title area of app window) are just ignored by the new interface. Focus is lost every now and then (e.g. after zooming), need to click into the doc window... Some very basic things hamper the otherwise not so bad new interface. Let's stop the rant now - it does not solve a single issue. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Docu + Design Daube; Schäracher 11; CH-8053 Zürich Technical documentation & consultancy; On-line and paper F: +41-44-422 86 25 E: [email protected] W: www.daube.ch _______________________________________________ You are currently subscribed to framers as [email protected].
