Thanks to all who offered suggestions for fixing my x-ref problem. Once I followed Richard's instructions for managing the unavailable fonts messages, the x-ref messages went away. Richard, I turned off Remember Missing Font Names, saved and closed everything, turned Remember... back on, and everything is fine.
