You've probably lost your files for good. Unless you specifically set
up an alternate location for backup files, there isn't an automatic
feature to make backups.

This is a good time to point out that there are some great utilities out
there that help in this regard. I use a free one called Karen's
Replicator (http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptreplicator.asp) It
makes backups from whatever folder structure I want, to whatever folder
structure I want, on the schedule I set. All of my work has three
copies, one on my machine, one on the file server, and one on a backup
server, and all of this happens behind the scenes without any manual
intervention by me. This has really saved my butt a few times!

Subject: Disk vs memory

All,

My associate and I have just discovered that all our work in FrameMaker
yesterday is likely lost. The network people were updating servers
yesterday and unknowingly lost our files and probably others. Can anyone
tell if and where I can find those files on our C drives, which I assume
is the "disk" referred to in Frame doc?

I recall and find references in Frame doc to the interaction between
computer memory and disk, which suggests that copies of all saves are
stored on C. But I find no information identifying a location on the
disk that files are saved to. A search of C for the .fm files didn't
turn up the targets.

Tips are welcome--the sooner the better.

Thanks,
Mike
