Maxwell, Just select all the paragraphs that contain the change bar attribute, then go to the character designer (ctrl D), uncheck the change bar attribute, then click "Apply". This will remove the change bar and leave everything else.
We always apply and remove change bars manually; it's easier to control than the automatic method.
