numbering help needed

Hi folks. I need to set up a numbering sequence for appendices that goes
like:

Appendix A. Blah
A.1 blah
A.2 blah
Appendix B. Blah
B.1
B.2

I'm not sure how to set up the auto-numbering for the appendix and appendix
level one tags.
