Hi, It's not a batch file, but what I do is open the Paragraph Catalog and/or Character Catalog and delete everything. Yup! Nuke it all.
Then I do this: File > Utilities > Create and apply formats It goes through and re-creates only the styles used in that FM file. If you have any tags with overrides, they show up in the list with the name of the tag they are based on, and an incremental number, such as Body, Body1, Body2, etc. You can then re-apply the base tag, or keep the override (or create a new tag for it). To clean up the other book files, you can then either do the same thing in all the other files in the book, or keep this file open, open the other files, and do File > Import > Formats, selecting the cleaned-up file to import from. I use FM8. YMMV. -Kristen Abbott
